YOUTH JUSTICE SERVICES

The Youth Justice Division addresses youth under the age of 18 who are charged with committing a delinquent act, or that exhibit unruly behavior, are typically processed through and supported by this division.

YOUTH SERVICES BUREAU

The purpose of the Youth Services Bureau is to redirect and rehabilitate youth that have been adjudicated delinquent. YSB guides youth while completing probation and assigned services or programs.

Case Management:

  • For those youth placed under the probationary supervision of the Youth Services Bureau, Case Managers support youth via phone contact and office conferences weekly.

Intensive Case Management:

  • For those youth placed under the probationary supervision of the Youth Services Bureau, Intensive Case Managers support youth via phone contact, office conferences, home visits and school visits weekly. 

EVALUATION & REFERRAL

The Evaluation and Referral Bureau takes a holistic, strength-based approach when working with court-involved youth and their families to identify specific needs and to link them to community service providers.

DETENTION SERVICES BUREAU

The Shelby County Division of Corrections administers detention services at the Youth and Justice Education (YJEC). The Shelby County Division of Corrections is responsible for the care and custody of all young people held at the YJEC.

 

Even though all court hearings for a case are held at the Juvenile Court of Memphis and Shelby County, if the young person is detained, they will be released from the YJEC.
